Blog:
A blog is literally an abbreviation for ‘weblog’. Blogs started in the early 1990s as an online diary for individuals to publish thoughts and stories on their own website.
Bloggers share their blog posts with other internet users. Blog posts used to be much more personal for the writer or group of writers than now.
Starting a Blog
You have decided that you want to start a blog and you know that you have something that you want to share with the world. Starting a blog is not difficult or complicated.
People postpone starting for various reasons. Some think it’s too technical and confusing, while others talk themselves out because they think they can’t compete in a busy market.
Some never start because they cannot determine what they want to blog about, while others restrain themselves with fear of failure. You should not stop any of these self-built roadblocks.
The blog you create is unique and a great way to share information with other people with the same interests. You do not need technical expertise or a lot of money. You just have to overcome what is stopping you from starting.
Either you are a beginner to do your first blog after several attempts or a you want to blog for professional or personal reasons, the best approach is to make the process as simple as possible and to get started step by step. You will be able to blogging by learning just 5 simple steps:
1) Select a subject/topic
2) Name your domain
3) Choose a blog platform
4) Choose your hosting and theme
5) Plan and write content
The following is more detailed information about every step.
Choose your topic/Subject:
If you start a blog to create a web presence for an offline business that you already have, the step of choosing your topic is already done. If you start all over again, you may not know what you want to blog about. A good approach to choosing a topic is to get in touch with what you are most excited about.
What do you constantly read about or talk about so often that others want you to stop talking about ?! What fascinates you enough to want to write day after day without being bored? If you choose a topic that is very broad, chances are that you will not be able to compete with larger websites that have been written about the same topic.
You may have to refine it to a speciality. For example, you have more success with blogging about losing belly fat than with weight loss in general, or blogging about growing roses instead of just blogging about all aspects of gardening. Choosing a subject comes easy for some but is more challenging for others.
Do not let this step last too long. If you start with a topic and find it doesn’t go anywhere, you can always start another blog. The most important thing is to ignore your reluctance to get started.
Choose a Domain Name:
Buy a domain from a site such as NameCheap. If possible, use a keyword that you target in your domain name. A keyword is a word that people type into a search engine to search for a topic. You can as well as buy a Kenyan domain name via Kenyan domain name providers.
A simple, memorable title for your blog is a good idea rather than spelling something complicated or difficult. It is usually better to omit hyphens from your domain name. It is always better to use a domain that ends in dot com (.com) instead of dotnet (.net) or on something else.
Choose a Blogging Platform:
There are different blog platforms to choose from and they vary in the amount of experience needed to use them effectively. It is a good idea to choose a platform that is flexible and that will make future changes possible.
In the next post we are going to discuss the Types of Blogging Platforms and also the required necessities which is mandatory to start a new blog and get a good return out of it.
Most of the people leave blogging because they need quick returns. Blogging is like a long-term investment of your time. The more time you invest on this you will get more success.
By the way this is the part 1 of of our main goal on “How To Start Bloggingâ€. Many more parts are going to come. We have also made many articles regarding the terms which are discussed here. So I would highly recommend you to read those specific articles for your better understanding.
Have a Great Day….
